Central Shariah Board holds its by-election and re-election-2020

Prof. Mohammad Gias Uddin Talukdar, Ph.D., has been elected as Chairman and Mawlana M. Shamaun Ali has been elected as Vice-chairman of Central Shariah Board for Islamic Banks of Bangladesh (CSBIB) for the remaining tenure 2019-2023.
The election was held on November 10, 2020, at the CSBIB's General Secretariat (Oriental Trade Center, 69/1 Purana Paltan Line, VIP Road, Kakrail, Dhaka-1000). The Chairmen, Managing Directors, Shari'ah Supervisory Committees'/Shari'ah Councils' Chairmen and Member-secretaries/Secretaries of its member-banks/institution (22 banks and 1 financial institution) cast their votes.
The Chairman of Social Islami Bank Limited Prof. Md. Anwarul Azim Arif acted as the Chief Election Commissioner while the Chairman of Executive Committee of Bank Asia Limited Mr. Rumee A Hossain and the Managing Director & CEO of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited Mr. Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam acted as Election Commissioners. The former Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank Mr. Md. Abdul Awwal Sarker acted as the Presiding Officer.
